The Story of

St. James The Less.

St. James The Less, our patron, was the oldest  of the apostles. Of the twelve, two were named James. James the Less was so called because he was the  smaller of the two. He was the brother of St. Jude and St. Simon who were also apostles. St. James was 96 years old when he was martyred in the year 62 by being thrown from the temple of Jerusalem and clubbed to death by the Jews. His remains are kept in the basilica of the Holy Angels in Rome. We celebrate his feast day on May 11th.
